Terms of use

Last updated: October 2, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Strider ("Strider," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Strider.

The service

Strider is a free app for virtual walking challenges: you pick a virtual walk and progress along it using your own real-world steps. Strider is completely free, has no ads, and we never sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Strider. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Your account

  • You sign in with a Google or Apple account. You're responsible for keeping that account secure — we can't recover your Strider account if you lose access to it.
  • One account per person. Don't create an account on someone else's behalf or share your account with others.
  • You're responsible for your display name, chosen city, and anything else you add to your profile.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Impersonate another person, or choose a display name that's offensive, misleading, or impersonates someone else.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, including through friend requests, usernames, or any other feature that puts you in contact with them.
  • Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to interact with Strider, including sending friend requests, scraping leaderboard or profile data, or artificially inflating your step count or ranking.
  • Attempt to access another user's account, or any part of Strider you're not authorized to access.
  • Use Strider for any purpose other than its intended one: tracking your own real-world walking progress.

We may remove content, or suspend or terminate accounts, that violate these Terms.

Health and fitness disclaimer

Strider is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. It is not a substitute for professional medical guidance — talk to a doctor before starting any new exercise activity, especially if you have a health condition. Strider reads your step count and walking distance from Apple Health or Google Health Connect; we rely on the accuracy of that data and aren't responsible for errors in how your device or its health platform measures or reports your steps or distance. Strider makes no guarantee about fitness outcomes, weight loss, or any other health result.

Your content

You keep ownership of the profile information you provide (your name, display name, and any other content you add). By using Strider, you give us permission to display that content to you and, depending on your settings, to other users — for example, your username and step count on leaderboards, or your profile to your friends — solely to operate the app's features as described in our Privacy Policy.

Our content

Strider's app, design, branding, route content, and route photos belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them outside of normal use of the app.

Many route photos are AI-generated illustrations of the places they depict and may not match how a place looks in real life.

Third-party services

Strider may link to third-party services, such as Google Maps. These open outside Strider and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we don't control.

Account deletion and termination

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. This immediately and permanently deletes your account and everything tied to it, with nothing kept afterward — see our Privacy Policy for details.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue Strider. Where reasonably possible, we'll try to give you notice first.

No warranties

Strider is provided "as is." We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Strider is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including reliance on step or distance data, route information, or any health or fitness outcome.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change to these Terms, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app. Continuing to use Strider after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
